Cyril Bryne, Defragmented memories, 2024, multimedia installation

Union House Arts is proud to announce the first ever winner, Cyril Byrne, as the recipient of the inaugural Union House Arts Residency Award.

The UHA Residency Award is a new initiative intended to provide a recent graduate or visual arts student studying at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador (MUNL) with a residency at our studios for upwards of 3 weeks to continue exploring their practice outside of academic supports. The award generates momentum for students by allowing them the time and space to explore their practice and the themes in a new space. The award is presented to a student who has shown a strong understanding of their artistic practice, a connection to their community, and a keen understanding of contemporary art cultures. Cyril Byrne is our first ever winner of the UHA Residency Award and was presented to prize during the reception for Going & Going & Going, the 2024 BFA Gradutaing Exhibition at Grenfell Art Gallery in Corner Brook.
