Elaine Alder is a textile artist, printmaker, and ceramicist whose work is driven by curiosity, tenderness, and hope for the future. Through their work with natural and reclaimed fibers, they explore empathy, reciprocity, and belonging, with a focus on kinship that transcends taxonomic boundaries. They forage and grow their own dye plants to support their textile practice and recently completed their debut public sculpture installation, “The Water We’re Swimming In” in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
