2023 Artists in Residence

I was born and raised in Japan and lived in British Columbia and Nova Scotia before moving to St. John’s, Newfoundland in summer 2010. I graduated from the Textiles: Craft and Apparel Design program at College of the North Atlantic in June, 2013, and I worked at a studio space at Quidi Vidi Village Artisan Studio from 2014 to 2018. I developed one-of-a-kind fine crafts and art based on my new home of Newfoundland and Labrador. Through 10 years living in St. John’s, I feel connected to my adopted home and am inspired by taking Newfoundland and Labrador scenery as my subject matter.
