2024 Artist in Residence
June 29 - July 24
Jessie Fraser is a Kjipuktuk/Halifax based visual artist. Her practice considers how photographs, literature and thread may be combined, to investigate the affective potential of woven cloth in site-sensitive installations. Using time as both a process and a material, Jessie’s practice is the process of weaving. There is a thread that moves through her work that seeks to use material heavy processes to communicate immaterial subject matter.
Fraser completed an MFA in 2019 at the Alberta University of the Arts in Craft Media. She has exhibited throughout Canada and in the UK; including solo shows at the Illingworth Kerr Gallery and Mary E. Black Gallery. Fraser’s work is in the Nova Scotia Art Bank collection, and has been featured in multiple national publications including Visual Arts News.
