Heritage NL Talk & Workshop

Learn the techniques of making a traditional braided mat from upcycled fabric. No experience necessary, suitable for beginners (braiding and basic sewing).

The event will begin at 1:30 with a short presentation on Heritage NL’s Craft at Risk initiative. From 2-5, Heritage NL staff will lead a braided rug workshop.

Participants will make a small mat that could be used for a trivet or table centerpiece or added onto to make a larger mat if you wish. Tools and materials provided, but if you have a favourite sewing needle and fabric scissors you are welcome to bring them.
