Tara Young Headshot

Tara Young is an interdisciplinary eco-based artist working with garbage collected from beaches to create work that speaks to the impact of ocean waste. Her work is influenced by experiences of collecting and sorting through garbage on the beaches of Gros Morne with her partner, bearing witness to the vast amount of garbage that washes up on our shores. With her artwork she investigates connections between our environment and our treatment of it as humans who have colonized the planet, overtaking it with plastics. Young’s practice incorporates drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and installation, using ocean waste as a material, subject, and matrix.

Young was born and raised in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, and received her BFA from NSCAD in 2025. She now lives between Norris Point and Corner Brook.
