2025 Artist in Residence
June 28 - July 23
Amanda Gresik is a textile artist from Manotick, Ontario. She is a graduate of NSCAD University, where she received a Master’s of Fine Art in Craft: Textiles in 2022. In 2016 she graduated from OCAD University’s Material Art and Design: Fibre program. Drawing from her lived experience as a woman with chronic pain and illness, Amanda’s work focuses on the intersections of health, illness, pain and craft, through the lens of navigating the Canadian healthcare system. In her MFA thesis, Gresik’s work revolved around the complexities of diagnosing, treating and living with chronic illness and pain. Using techniques traditionally referred to as “women’s work” (quilting, patchwork, stitching), she aims to empower all people who feel marginalized and not cared for within the healthcare system.
