Dye Foraging with Heather Nolan
June 17
In this workshop participants will be guided by artist and writer, Heather Nolan, to learn how to identify natural dye materials that are found on the eastern coast of Newfoundland and Labrador!
The workshop will start with a guided hike where participants will learn to spot and identify potential natural dyes in the area before returning to the community garden where they will learn how to prepare their finds for dying! Each participant will leave with a collection of naturally-dyed Atlantic yarn adorned in colours that are found within and around Port Union.
This workshop is for all ages but children must be attended by a parent or trusted adult as we will be heading out on the trails in Port Union. If you have any questions regarding accessibility, or need accommodations please reach out to unionhousearts@gmail.com
This workshop is also weather dependent and will not go forward in heavy rain or wind. If the workshop is canceled it will be moved to June 18th (weather dependant!)
Registration is required. All materials are included, please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting stained! We hope to see you there!
