Fold, Flow, Create: Accordion Journal Workshop
September 19th 2026

On September 19th, join contemporary artist and educator Mackenzie Browning for an afternoon of book arts, creativity, and conversation. Participants will learn how to create an accordion journal using pre cut materials, custom printed papers, and acid free journal pages suitable for drawing, writing, note taking, and creative brainstorming.
Along the way, Mackenzie will share artist book techniques, practical tips for sustainable creative practices, and insights into building a long term arts career. Drawing from his experience as an exhibiting artist, he will discuss how artist books can find homes in public and institutional collections. His artist books are held in a number of university collections, including Baylor University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the University of Colorado Denver, among others.
This relaxed and welcoming workshop combines hands on making, discussion, music, and community. Whether you use your journal for sketching, reflection, planning, or creative exploration, you’ll leave with a finished accordion journal and new ideas for incorporating book arts into your own practice. No previous experience is required.
