Hayley Butler is an emerging interdisciplinary artist from Conception Bay South, Newfoundland
and Labrador. Her primary focus is in printmaking, specifically printing familiar objects from
childhood. Her work deals with difficult conversations of childhood trauma, perfectionism and the
idea of having to be the best, no matter the cost to your mental health. She takes these heavy
topics and turns them into visually appealing childlike dreams with dark undertones. She hopes
to start conversations that break the society standards of being overworked and
underappreciated, to see the underdog in their true potential. Hayley has also been awarded
many prestigious awards during her education. These awards include the Division of Fine Arts
Mercy/Presentation Education Fund Award (2022), and the Ellen Rusted Award in Print Media
(2024).
