Jessica Waterman
August 30 to September 17 2021
Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador on Ktaqmkuk, the unceded traditional territories of the Beothuk and Mi’kmaq
Jessica Waterman uses both wood and textiles, combining two materials she feels best reflect the character of Newfoundland and Labrador. Jessica’s work ranges from wooden quilts, fabric quilts, murals, interior design to the renovations of homes and commercial spaces.
In creating her work, Jessica blends carpentry with art. Besides spending her time in her Gander design studio, Jessica has worked in film and television as a costume designer, props procurer, and art director for various productions, including CBC television’s Republic of Doyle, Netflix’ “Frontier”, and NL Tourism award winning marketing campaigns. Recently Jessica was commissioned to renovate the iconic Gander International Airport’s gift shop, boardroom, art gallery, and International lounge bar.
